Fun Across the River
From unique festivals and events, to gourmet wining and dining, to boutique shopping and historic sites, Vancouver is where the Northwest will find its summer. Upcoming events include:

  • May 18: 30th Anniversary of Mt. St. Helen’s Eruption
The Heathman Lodge’s Hiking Package (featuring cozy accommodations, breakfast, bottled water, trail mix and local hiking maps) is the perfect match for a day trip from Vancouver to the Johnston Ridge Observatory, located just a stones throw from Mt. St. Helens. Get an up close view of the giant crater caused by the 1980 eruption, then participate in a number of activities, including the "Tell Your Story" event on May 16th at Hoffstadt Bluffs Visitor Center.

  • July 4: Independence Day at Fort Vancouver
Sorely missed after a year’s absence by both locals and visitors, the Fort Vancouver fireworks, are back. Billed as the biggest fireworks display west of the Mississippi River, this year’s event will be a part of a new family-friendly fair at historic Fort Vancouver featuring food, arts and crafts, live music and more. Fireworks will be launched from the Pearson Airfield. The gates open at 8 a.m. with music and entertainment beginning at noon. Admission will be $5 for adults and teens (children 12 and under are free).

  • August 20-22: 51st Annual Northwest Antique Aircraft Association’s Fly-in
Unique antique and vintage airplanes from across the country will be on display at the historic Pearson Airfield, the oldest operating airfield in the U.S. View the planes and meet the pilots, then visit the adjacent Pearson Air Museum for a glimpse into “The Golden Age of Aviation.”

  • August 22: Concours d’Elegance
For the first time ever, the prestigious Concours d’Elegance has selected Vancouver for its showcase of classic cars. View rare autos including exotic cars like Ferraris and Alfa Romeos, along with antique cars such as Ford’s Model T. More than 200 cars will be parked along the scenic Officers Row in downtown Vancouver. Tickets are just $10.
