Hallelujah! Trader Vic Returns
With New Portland Opening

By Fred Delkin

Dateline: Portland --  A delightful taste experience from our decadent past will resurface with
the Tuesday, July 26 opening of Trader Vic's on the edge of Portland's Pearl district at
1203 NW Glisan.  Vic Bergeron created the Trader Vic restaurant chain back in 1937 in San
Francisco.  A Seattle outpost opened in Seattle's Benjamin Franklin Hotel during our college
days at University of Washington and an Oregon site was opened in 1959 at the Benson
Hotel, where it titillated tastebuds until 1996.

Portland investors just announced its restoration, with no straying away from its original South Seas decor and Polynesian-themed food and cocktail offerings.  Yes, there will be a wood-fired clay oven to smoke BBQ cuts of Steak & Lamb...and Rum will be mixed with
tropical juices for unique cocktail offerings, including the legendary Tiki Bowl shared at a
group table with separate straws for each imbiber.

Trust me, folks, this is the ultimate date experience that has been gone too long
from the scene.
