News, articles and comment:
(This is an old-fashioned "monthly" magazine.  Updates do appear, but are not frequent.)
October 29, 2011: Liberal Democrat Media Sluts and Pimps on Parade:
In the opinion of Oregon Magazine, this is the bottom.  This is as low as they can go. The citizens of this state who support the
MSM are either IQ-deficient or Traitors.  Any member of the Oregon Media who does not do a front page, top of the show
denouncement of this smear is made of the material that coats the surface of summer ponds.   To the staff at the shrinking
Oregonian, and the staff of Oregon Public Broadcasting, we say: "Wouldn't you be more comfortable in Uganda or Cuba?"

A Cascade Policy Institute mid-October email:
When Does Theft Turn into Taxation?
A Day in the Life of America:
September 16th, 2011 (kickoff comments by LL)

I was wandering around the internet, looking at various hard news sites
(newspapers/magazines, etc.) and began to get a strange feeling
about things.  I went to OrBusMax and Drudge, on to the Blaze and the
Fox site, checked out Breitbart and then, it all came into focus.

What a damned mess.

That said, some of what you'll see on the cover this month is original stuff by us, some
is the best x-link version of a given topic that I could locate and some is a combination
of the two types.  It came to me in September that what you must be told in October is
why your nation is a damned mess.  Everything you'll see was collected or written on
or after the 16th of last month.  Here we go ...

The Economic Mess: Governmentus numismatica absurdii
Government shines at picking winners? (x-links except for the Dark Power item)
White House Email: More taxpayer money to SOLYNDRA risky...

Doomed taxpayer-backed company paid $187,000 lobbying...
SOLYNDRA among 5 stimulus firms to go under...
Administration reworked SOLYNDRA loan to favor donor...
How to Produce Solar Power in the Dark    (OrMag link)
The Bronx is down and the Battery, too ...

Bloomberg Warns of Unemployment Riots in NYC
Let's say that the sector one selects is urban renewal methodology, and in New York City, the latest technology
is being offered by the Allah Akbar Corporation. Should they be given the contract for the demolition of City
Hall?  But, whatever employment sector you look at, will the present taxation and regulatory environment provide
the jobs NYC needs?  A famous Conservative asks ... "Would NYC have plenty of jobs for minorities if
immigration laws were enforced?"  OrMag asks, "What would Stalin do with an opportunity like this, and why
doesn't Portland, Oregon turn Washington County into a giant agricultural political re-education commune?

White House proposes Stalinist Potato Purge:
Idaho prepares for economic famine.  Local native tribes
suggest return to diet of buffalo wings.  Mayor of Boise
ssys winged buffalo went extinct due to bad landings.

Non-Communist Advisor Infiltrates Obama White-House?
The Race Mess:
Race in America is about socialist handouts and so-called affirmative action:
Pack Of Violent Black, Hispanic Teens Attack
4 White Men Outside Denver Mall...

FLASHBACK: 2012 will be 'most racist' election ever...
Black Leaders feel that Greek street riots point the way to more minority jobs.  Whether it's
longshoremen in Tacoma damaging property and threatening people, or the residents of NE
Portland neighborhoods destroying business facilities and frightening paying customers in the
Hood, can the inflow of infrastructure money provide funding for drug gang housing, financial
support for welfare queens who pump out fatherless children like Nike pumps out shoes and
free mass transit for the people lilned up at the pawn shop, selling stuff that only recently came
 into their possession?
(Note: Prior to Democrats taking over Congress during Bush II's second term, unemployment was below 6%)
(Note: ask Barney Frank and Chris Dodd why banks started making stupid housing loans.)
The Foreign Mess:
A Friend in Need (similar to Israel) ...
Obama decides against new F-16s...
Longtime U.S.(non-communist) ally,Taiwan, will be vulnerable to latest GE aircraft technology
now being turned over to Chinese airplane factories as part of latest Liberal Jobs-for-Americans
program.  Politically-related story:
WOMAN'S WORLD:US concerned about Taiwan candidate...
Netanyahu set for UN showdown...
The above is old news.  Palestine going for statehood at the United Nations. and our diplomats walking out because
our president finally realized that this debacle is the result of his own idiotic approach to international problems?
Netanyahu speaking reason to a room full of deaf ears. Political drama signifying nothing new.  it has already
happened.  It is just part of what is happening, and is all the result of BHO's bungling.

Will NYC arabs celebrate with shreds of paper thrown out of their windows, or will containers of thermite float
down on the cars in a celebratory ticker tape parade?
Israel is the only true democracy in that region.  Our only
steadfast ally.  So far, Obama has snubbed them -- housed Netanyahu in a Motel 6 and transported him around in
used cars.  Does a great friend of America deserve a '68 VW bug, or a '63 Caddy convertible?

The Education Mess:
Chavez:Racial Preferences in Wisconsin9/16/11
Note: this is an odd x-link.  It may be just my machine, but we've never before run across an x-link
that blocks standard return to the previous page.   Maybe it won't happen to you, but it did to me.
Our left-arrow button when used here dumps the browser.

Since you should read this link, here's how I solved the problem:

You have a present location space at the top of your screen right now.  It says you're at

When you click on the Chavez link, that address will appear in that space.  To return here without trouble,
I used the button up there next to the current page address line.  I clicked on it, then selected the previous page
URL which of course was for Oregon Magazine.  Clicking on that brought me right back to this page.   My guess
is that most of you know what the problem is.  I, however, am the world's worst webmaster.  Computers are a
complete mystery to me, and the only program I ever wrote, caused my old IBM to say "Good morning, Dave"
when I turned it on in the morning.  (LL)

Lynda Chavez and friends ...
... have begun to present evidence of systemic educational misfeasance across the nation.  Recently, her attempt to
brings these facts out at a university in the upper mid-west resulted in student thuggery at the event.  These activities
were condoned and supported by officials at the "school."  Their attitude is in no way different from those held
by "higher" education right here in Oregon.  As I have said before in this publication, education in Oregon and elsewhere
in America is controlled by Progressives (read: an iron socialist fist), now.  Unless you send your children to a good
(and there are bad ones) charter school, or a private religious academy of some sort, they will graduate with heads full
of secular liberal propaganda. They will have no idea how America happened and what became of it. If you sent them to
North Korea for their education, you couldn't damage them more.
Here is what I wrote about the topic Chavez covered in her presentation.  Readers of this magazine knew
what was going on years ago.

The Hispanic Education Myth
Finally, on this education theme, did you see this in September?
If you're better on the net than I am, somewhere in here, you will find John
Stossel's program titled "Stupid in America." The previously hideous educational
system, it seems, is being replaced by charter schools which produce children who
can think. (In one case in the very place where Bush caused a hurricane !!)

Q: Are you referring to TARP, ObamaCare or the government expansion?
A: Yes.
Q: So, who will he add to Bush for the new stuff?
A: Tea Party loyalists
Q: What is he going to pin on them?
A: Being ungrateful for higher taxes and no jobs.oo

Atlas Shrugged Movie is Raising Cain

Who is John Galt?

March 22. 2011 --  Ayn Rand’s epic novel, Atlas Shrugged, is finally coming to the silver screen. Whether you’ve read the book or not, you won’t want to miss Part 1 of the film, which debuts around the country the weekend of April 15-16-17th.  So far, the nearest confirmed theaters are in the Seattle area. You can help bring it to Portland, or a theater in your city, by “Demanding” it at the link below. The book was published in 1957, but the producers of the film have wisely set it in 2016. This way, Americans can see what’s coming if we don’t turn around the collectivist government in Washington.

It’s a great story, and a powerful warning. Don’t miss it.

OMED: Many early pieces in Oregon Magazine were written in a version of Netscape
Composer that in modern browsers produces black diamonds with reversed question
marks inside them.  These are almost always quotation marks, apostrophes or dashes.
When you see text that contains those black diamonds, it means I haven't gotten around
to repairing the problem, yet.

Lastly, all of our early work URL suffixes were "htm."  When the computer gods decided
to change those to "html," problems arose,  but changing the suffix from one to the other
may make the page you want available

Final Thought:  If you think this magazine is a graphic mess, you should see my garage. (LL)
