Rumors Aside, SkyWest Coastal Service Continues

April 29, 2009 -- Inaccurate news reports signaled the cancellation of Oregon's only commercial air service to the coast, declares SkyWest Airlines. This subsidiary of United Airlines established links to North Bend from San Francisco and Portland hubs in 2008 after Horizon Air had dropped service to a newly remodeled and expanded terminal funded by the coastal community.

Spring heralds the advent of golf season and the world-class resorts in Bandon, just south of the coastal terminal are expected to draw linksters from afar. Air connections are via Embraer prop jet and have an in-air time of just over an hour from either hub to North Bend. Go to www.united.com for schedules & cost. (FD)
