Oregon Connections: the Civil War:
Reverend Daniel Drew of Portland
By Randy Fletcher

In the motion picture Glory, black Union soldiers march into a southern town and amazed slave children gather to watch them. Sergeant Major John Rawlins, portrayed by Morgan Freeman, says to the children “Ain't no dream. We runaway slaves, but we come back fightin' men. Go tell your folks how kingdom come in the year of jubilee!” The character played by Freeman is incredibly similar to the life of a Portland man.

Present state of ObamaCare: (X-Links)
January 27, 2010 -- After the election of Senator Brown from MA, and so the apparent loss of veto-proof power by Senate Dems, some say the socialized medicine bill is dead. Since it is a key step in the Progressive Plan to turn America into a socialist dictatorship which features Nazi-style government control of all large private corporations, we are not sure if the corpse is truly deceased. Perhaps a number of Democrats like Islamic volunteers and Kamikazi pilots are waiting for just the right moment to sacrifice themselves.

Chump Change by J. Matt Barber Here, we have a discussion about the tidal changes inside the Beltway. The new senator, the President, the Speaker of the House, new voter trends and so forth. Dark plots, insincere politicians, honest politicians, power brokers -- it's a puzzle, frankly. The kind a Sherlock would enjoy. (LL/OrMag)

Democrats’ Political Suicide Pact By J. Matt Barber The president recently told Diane Sawyer: “I’d rather be a really good one-term president than a mediocre two-term president.” Excise the
self-aggrandizing “really good” twaddle and it would seem ol’ Windy City Barry’s well on his way.

Harry Truman had a sign on his desk.  It read: "The Buck stops here." We are curious just when Bush's economy Buck will xfer over to Obama.  Now, next year, never?  In First Year, Obama Presides Over 4.1 Million Jobs Lost, Most Since 1940

Unemployment shot up in 2009 from 7.7 percent in January to 10.1 percent in October before settling at 10 percent in December. Behind those percentages were more than 4.1 million people who lost their jobs during the year. According to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, that's the most job losses in a year since 1940. (BLS could only provide data from 1940-2009)
