Portland’s Confederate Engineer:
Colonel Isaac W. Smith
By Randy Fletcher

Turn on the water faucet in any kitchen in Portland and you will get a seemingly endless supply of safe, clean, clear, cold mountain water. It has pretty much been that way since 1895 when the pipeline from Bull Run Reservoir to Portland was designed and built by one of Confederate general Robert E. Lee’s best engineers. Isaac Smith is known as the father of Portland’s water system but he had an international career that made him one of the most significant civil engineers of the 19th Century.

Global Warming? Author Debunks Current Claims
Amid all the political excitement being stirred up by President Obama's 'Cap & Trade'measure he wants to shove through Congress, a new book, Climatism, by Steve Goreham, should be read as a complete discussion of the science, politics and the energy policy implications of the global warming debate. Goreham, an engineer with an MBA from the University of Chicago, asks very pertinent and informed questions:

Congress Passes Obama/Reid/Pelosi Healthcare Bill

March 21, 2010 -- Not a single Republican "crossed the aisle."
Welcome to Europe, folks.  To come, Immigration "Reform" (which
means legalising millions of border jumpers), Cap and Trade (which
means dramatic cost increases in many, if not all, fuel price
categories), and various other "Progressive" initiatives. In the opinion of those who create this publication, it leaves the fall elections as the only thing standing between America and disaster.  Tea Parties and those who stood firm today, like Travis and the boys at the Alamo, will need massive voter help if the bond rating decline and garish tax hikes on Americans whose investments floor the private sector are to be properly dealt with.  It's coming up on fish or cut bait time for freedom and capitalism. You have eight months to decide.  (LL)
